Late autumn persimmons of Sendai, rolling into town as robed figures who scatter fruit and sweet scent.

A persimmon yokai said to originate from the Jūnininmachi district on the east side of Sendai Station. According to the legend, if persimmons are left unharvested until late autumn, they transform into monks or nyūdō (bald-headed monks) and wander through the town, throwing persimmons in every direction. They are also said to leave behind droppings with a surprisingly sweet fragrance.
