Rhythmic midnight pestle of Mashiko, filling the outstretched baskets of steady, patient listeners.
According to a legend from Mashiko, no one has ever seen this mysterious being. Late at night, a steady tok-tok tapping sound can be heard, drawing closer and closer. When it reaches the listener's back, they must keep facing forward and quietly hold out a basket behind them. If they do, the unseen visitor will fill it with treasure.
