A yokai from the folklore of what is now Uda District in Nara Prefecture. It is said to follow travelers along dark roads at night, its footsteps echoing close behind. However, if the traveler politely tells it to go on ahead, the footsteps suddenly disappear. No one, it is said, has ever caught a glimpse of the mysterious being itself.
