Fresh Pulls, Fresh Grades? Let’s talk about Pokémon TCG grading!

Fresh Pulls, Fresh Grades? Let’s talk about Pokémon TCG grading!

You just pulled a rare card—do you send it straight for grading? Here’s how grading works and why it matters:

Grading involves sending your card to a professional service like PSA, Beckett, or CGC, where experts evaluate its condition based on:

  1. Surface: Scratches, marks, or printing defects.
  2. Edges: Clean or chipped?
  3. Corners: Sharp or bent?
  4. Centering: Is the design evenly aligned?

The card is then given a score out of 10, with 10 (Gem Mint) being the ultimate prize! Graded cards are sealed in protective cases and become prized collectibles.

Why Grade Fresh Cards?
Cards straight from the pack often have the BEST chance for a high grade because they haven’t been handled much. A PSA 10 Charizard? That’s the dream—and it can increase the value of your card significantly!

But Think Ahead: Grading takes time (weeks or even months) and costs money. Not every card is worth grading, so pick wisely!

What’s your best pull so far, and did you grade it? Let us know in the comments!
