Tifa Time: One Punch, All Power
Tifa Lockhart isn’t just a fan-favorite from Final Fantasy VII she’s also turning heads in Commander thanks to her low cost, explosive potential, and straightforward gameplay. As a mono-green Commander, Tifa brings surprising damage and quick threats to the table, proving that sometimes one punch is all you need.
What Makes Tifa Strong?
At first glance, a one-power creature with trample might seem underwhelming, but Tifa Lockhart flips that expectation on its head. Every time a land enters the battlefield under your control, her power doubles until end of turn. Even simple ramp spells like Fabled Passage, Kodama’s Reach, or Rampant Growth can quickly push her from 1 to 4, 8, or even more power all with trample.
With just two mana to cast, Tifa is fast, efficient, and easy to recast. And since she’s mono-green, you can run a reliable base of basic Forests, cheap ramp, and still hit high-impact plays without stretching your mana base.
Where She Struggles
Tifa’s greatest strength explosive power on a small frame is also her biggest risk. With only two toughness, she’s fragile and vulnerable to common removal in Commander. Her power boost is temporary, so protecting her and finding ways to extend her presence on the battlefield will be crucial. Expect her to draw removal quickly, especially once she starts stealing games out of nowhere.
